Week 3 the essential school of painting - working bigger / came back to an idea from a few years ago in Portugal … still got the tarot from last week in mind too.. not sure! But enjoying (and feeling slight frustration as I’m not very patient, but more so enjoying) working with oils.

Week two at Essential School of Painting! Melissa Kime introduced us to some history about Tarot and Pamela Colman Smith who created the famous Rider-Waite Tarot deck, and who was born 16th Feb the day after my birthday! I chose two cards (I got 6 of coins and 6 of swords - super relevant - made me a bit emotional even) and then was tasked to interpret these in some way. I started on an abstract and also painted some figurative pieces using drawings I made last night at East london life drawing as a starting point. First time using oil paints for as long as I can remember. Loved it.
I’ll be showing some work in Materiality: The Language of Matter at Espacio gallery, Shoreditch.
